Diana Turner-Forte
 

DIANA TURNER-FORTE is a dancer, teacher and author with a background in classical and contemporary ballet. Her professional dance career includes performing with the Chicago Ballet, San Diego Ballet, Des Moines Ballet, BalletMet Columbus, and Taller Coregrafico de la UNAM in Mexico City. Ms. Turner-Forte also has an extensive background in arts administration at both the state (Ohio Arts Council) and regional (Education Director, Artists-in-Schools Program, Greater Columbus Arts Council) levels. As an arts administrator she facilitated communicaton between schools, teachers, community centers and arts organizations in realizing the significance of the arts in the learning process.

For twenty years she directed FOOTPRINTS Contemporary Ballet, a spiritually based dance company and maintained a private practice which focused on the whole person, incorporating additional tools such as Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K) and the Brain Gym system to enable participants to access their inner potential and to increase skills in academics, arts, sports, business, personal growth and wellness. As both a teaching artist and educator, Ms. Turner-Forte draws on her extensive dance background, complemented by expertise in anatomy, kinesiology, brain development and movement re-education to further a particpant's undestanding of his or her range of possibilities for personal expression. The system and techniques benefit the aging and the young alike because the activities and instruction speak to the essence of one's being, the human spirit.

 

Since relocating to North Carolina, Diana Turner-Forte has served on a number of arts boards and dance panels and conducted dance education residences in Richmond, Montgomery and Moore County schools for Arts Richmond, Arts Council of Moore County, for North Carolina Dance Theatre, A+, a program of the Kenan Institute and North Carolina Dance Theatre. Currently, she is on the faculty of Carolina Performing Arts Center and free-lances at area studios, colleges and community centers.

 

Ms. Turner-Forte holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Dance and is a licensed Brain Gym Instructor/Consultant. Her first book, Letters to Amelia, was recenty published by Vantage Press. Her services include: master classes, choreographing, private consultations and presenting dance as prayer for liturgical settings and sacred celebrations.
