Ploch was one of the principle teachers at the New York Academy of Ballet and Dance Arts for almost ten years and then taught at New York City Broadway Dance Center. His teaching has also led to Ballet and Labanotation intensive courses in Santa Fe, NM, a Visiting Professor stint at Kirkland (now Hamilton) College and various Master Classes throughout the country. After relocating to Tampa Florida, Ploch became the ballet instructor for the University of Tampa Community Dance Program. In 2001 Ploch assumed the position of Adjunct Instructor in Dance at Hillsborough Community College. Ploch also maintains an active teaching schedule in several privately owned studios in Tampa. Ploch has performed with various ballet and modern dance companies in New York including the Light Opera of Manhattan and Robert Yohn and Dancers. He also served as Assistant to the Choreographer with the Santa Fe Opera where he performed and choreographed for the Apprentice Artists Program. An active choreographer, his work has been presented in the Northeast, the South and the Southwest. Currently, he devotes most of his choreographic energies to Acanthus. Richard Allan Ploch maintains active memberships in several national and international dance organizations. These include the Society of Dance History Scholars, Dance/USA, International Council of Kinetography Laban and the Florida Dance Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the National Dance Registry, the Advisory Board for Performing Arts Resources and has served two terms on the Artists Advisory Committee of the Tampa/Hillsborough Arts Council. Ploch is a founding member of the Alliance of Dance Notation Educators, a group of dance professionals from all forms of dance who espouse and include dance notation within dance education. |
