Founder & Director of Moving Miracles Dance; a dance/ movement program for children, youth and adults who are exceptionally challenged. What began as a grass roots program with 4 students more than a decade ago has consistently touched the lives of more than 400 students each season. Our students victoriously dance each day overcoming obstacles such a Cerebral Palsy, Autism, global developmental delays and complex seizure disorders. Today our mission remains steadfast in the belief and demonstration of beauty found in dance through the non- perfect body.

After suffering a traumatic back injury in my sophomore year in college, aspirations of a professional dance career came to a halt. With bittersweet reluctance I found the most important part of my arduous recovery was dance. The imagery and rhythm I visualized as the music coursed throughout each muscle group in my body allowed my muscles spasms to slowly subside and to re-energize a healthy neuro-muscular system.

My perspective on dance and authentic movement shifted to a therapeutic mode. Graduate studies at three different graduate institutions allowed me to explore dance with a strong emphasis on the holistic philosophy of recovery and harmonization of the mind and body.

Sheila is also a Teaching Artist of Young Audiences of Western New York and an

Artist In Residence –Arts In Healthcare Initiative through the University @ Buffalo. Sheila works at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo facilitating Arts at the bedside as part of patient recovery and reintegration into the community.

Moving Miracles focus is three-fold moving forward. Arts In Education with a continued emphasis on Advocacy for persons with disabilities, underprivileged, youth at risk and an overall commitment to individual, family and community health and wellness initiatives.
