Kathryn Austin is the Director of the Centre for Dance & the Performing Arts, a full-service dance education facility in the private sector. Her studio serves over 225 students at all levels, abilities and ages. She is also the owner of Geared to Dance, a retail dance and fitness apparel store in the historical district of Winter Garden. She holds an MA in Dance from the University of Hawaii and a BFA from Florida State University. She has been with the Registry since its inception and is active in many dance organizations on a state, national and international level.

She is a member of NDEO, NDA, SDHS, IADMS and FUSTA. She is also a member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and is a Certified Fellow of the association's Highland Dance branch. She has been teaching dance for 24 years and has taught in the University, Community college and public school levels in addition to the past 14 years in the private sector.

Austin is a freelance dance writer and authors the popular column, Let's Talk Dance in the nationally distributed DANCER magazine. She has served on the Boards of the National Dance Association, the Florida Dance Association and her local YMCA.. In January of 2004, she became a certified and licensed Lebed Method specialist. The Lebed Method, Focus on Healing through Movement and Dance, is a medically driven, dance - based exercise program for patients recovering from breast surgery, cancer treatments and chronic illnesses. Austin is married, a mother of three and very active in her community on a personal level and through her studio. She is an active fund raiser in her local Relay For Life event, serves as Chairperson of the Facilities Planning Committee for her church, and teaches Senior High Sunday School. Her dedication, commitment and integrity are evident in her professional involvement, the philosophy of her studio and the implementation of programs and curriculum that serve both the student and the art form reciprocally.
